Shamarcus
Hailing from the small town of Lexington, Mississippi, Shamarcus is a passionate traveler and cultural advocate whose journeys have spanned the globe. Shamarcus’s path began with a deep curiosity for the world, focusing his travels on Sub-Saharan Africa and the Caribbean. His love for exploring diverse cultures was not limited to sightseeing; he actively immersed himself in communities, fostering cross-cultural exchanges, uplifting local voices, and reshaping the narrative around the destinations he cherished.
While pursuing his degree in African Studies at Colgate University, Shamarcus’s academic journey mirrored his real-world experiences. Through study abroad programs in South Africa, Jamaica, and Ghana, he tackled critical issues such as homophobia and social justice. His time interning with Amnesty International in Ghana solidified his commitment to creating meaningful connections and promoting equity on a global scale.
After completing graduate studies at George Washington University, Shamarcus embarked on a remarkable journey, visiting over 20 countries in just four years. With intentionality at the heart of his travels, he cultivated a global network of trusted cultural ambassadors—individuals with profound knowledge of their homelands who share his passion for welcoming and supporting visitors.
